SUMMARY:ESCI Day Finland – European Student Card Initiative in focus
DESCRIPTION:Event Recap & Highlights\nOn 19 November 2025\, higher education professionals from across Finland gathered in Jyväskylä at Jamk University of Applied Sciences for ESCI Day Finland – European Student Card Initiative in focus. \nThe European Student Card Initiative (ESCI) aims to create a greener\, more digital\, more inclusive and smoother Erasmus+ mobility experience. The event offered a concrete look at how this vision is being built in practice. \nParticipants represented international relations\, student services\, IT units and student organisations\, all sharing a common goal of improving digital solutions for student mobility. Bringing together different professional roles in one space was seen as one of the day’s greatest strengths\, as it encouraged fresh perspectives and meaningful dialogue. \nThe programme combined strategic perspectives with hands-on insights. Opening remarks and keynote speakers from national and European stakeholders — including the European Commission — highlighted how ESCI fits into the broader vision of a more seamless and inclusive European Higher Education Area. \nDuring the sessions\, participants exchanged real-life examples\, challenges and lessons learned from implementing systems such as Erasmus Without Paper (EWP). Discussions focused especially on interoperability\, institutional processes and effective collaboration across organisations. \nWith over 100 participants in attendance\, ESCI Day Finland received very positive feedback. Many valued having a full day dedicated to the development of digital mobility solutions. \nMore information on the ESCI initiative and the current national developments in Finnish higher education: https://www.oph.fi/en/programmes/european-student-card-initiative-erasmus-programme  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
